Forward-Backward Multiplicity Correlations in Relativistic Heavy-Ion Collisions

چکیده
Forward-backward multiplicitycorrelations are investigated by analyzing the experimental data on O-AgBr collisions at 14.5A, 60A and 200A GeV/c and the findings are compared with the predictions of Monte Carlo model, hIJING. the findings indicate that the observed correlations are mainly of short-range in nature which arise due to the decay of clusters and (or) resonances produced in the central rapidity region. the result reveal that the range of F-B correlations extend to rather longer range with increasing beam energy which might be due to overall multiplicity fluctuations arising because of nuclear geometry. however, there is no evidence for the presence of long-range correlations even at the highest beam energy considered.

Fluctuations and Correlations in STAR
The study of correlations and fluctuations can provide evidence for the production of the quarkgluon plasma (QGP) in relativistic heavy ion collisions. Various theories predict that the production of a QGP phase in relativistic heavy ion collisions could produce significant event-by-event correlations and fluctuations in, transverse momentum, multiplicity, etc. Some of the recent results using ...
متن کامل2 00 8 STAR ’ s measurement of Long - range forward - backward multiplicity correlations as the signature of “ dense partonic matter ” in the Heavy
Forward-backward multiplicity correlations have been measured with the STAR detector for Au+Au, Cu+Cu and p+p collisions at √ sNN = 200 GeV. A strong, long-range correlation is observed for central heavy ion collisions that vanishes in semiperipheral events and pp collisions. There is no apparent scaling of correlation strength with the number of participants involved in the collision. Both the...
متن کاملLong Range Forward-Backward Correlations and the Color Glass Condensate
We discuss forward-backward correlations in the multiplicity of produced particles in heavy ion collisions. We find the Color Glass Condensate generates distinctive predictions for the long range component of this correlation. In particular, we predict the growth of the long range correlation with the centrality of the collision. We argue that the correlation for baryons is less strong than tha...
متن کاملMultiplicity and transverse energy of produced gluon in relativistic heavy ion collision
We present a simple gluon production picture which is based on the McLerran-Venugopalan model and gluon BFKL evolution in relativistic heavy ion collision. Results for the multiplicity and transverse energy distribution in both the central and forward rapidity regions for gluon production in early stages of heavy ion collisions at the LHC are given. Finally, we provide a general qualitative dis...
متن کاملCorrelations and fluctuations in high-energy nuclear collisions.
Nucleon correlations in the target and projectile nuclei are shown to reduce significantly the fluctuations in multiple nucleon-nucleon collisions, total multiplicity and transverse energy in relativistic heavy-ion collisions, in particular for heavy projectile and target. The interplay between cross-section fluctuations, from color transparency and opacity, and nuclear correlations is calculat...
